Locum Doctors

firefox When the Sark Medical Officer takes holiday or study leave, a locum doctor takes his place. Locum doctors are registered with the General Medical Council and with the health services on Guernsey. Locum doctors fulfill the same role as the Medical Officer in his absence which includes responding to emergencies, dispensing medication, normal consultations and home visits. The provision of additional services such as routine cervical screening, elective minor surgery and joint injections will depend on the individual doctor.

Working as a Locum on Sark

If you are interested in working as a locum doctor on Sark, please contact us at the surgery. All doctors need to be able to provide evidence of current full registration with the General Medical Council as a General Practitioner, current medical indemnity which covers their work here, and valid resuscitation certification. Experience in pre-hospital care is a great benefit. Doctors need to register with Guernsey health services before they can use their pathology, radiology and referral services.
